Black & Gold Venetian Gown

Gown made in the Venetian style, c. 1570 from black and gold silk damask. Skirt is guarded in black velvet to protect hem, and lined in silk taffeta and interlined in black linen. Silk organza partlet is tacked into bodice. Sleeves have shoulder treatment of damask with white organza pullings-out. 6" wide lace is sewn to the sleeve cuffs, and a small organza ruffle is basted to the inside of the sleeve openings.

The gown was originally made in 2004 and then revamped in 2006 to its current state pictured here.
