Buy my stuff!

I just booked plane tickets to D.C. for a research trip for my thesis, and holy cow, are hotels and rental cars expensive! (Not so much the plane tickets, actually. I was able to get a really good deal on them from Virgin America.)

See this? This is cool. And it can be yours!

So, to try to offset the cost of this trip, I have opened CocoRocaille, an Etsy shop for vintage costume jewelry, patterns and some fabrics, and other costuming related items. Please check it out and I really hope something catches your fancy. I’ll be adding more things in the coming days, so please keep checking back to see what’s new!

Also, I have books listed at Half.com, including a lot of costume-related and research titles like this, this, and this, to name a few.

I sort of hate to shill like this, but a girl has to do what she can in order to fund her research!  I guess it beats stripping to put myself through grad school, right?  Although I hear that pays really well…

Have you booked the hotel already? If not, I can help. Since I live right outside of DC, I know the area very well. You might not need a rental car if the place you are going to is near the Metro. Actually, a rental car might be a detriment if you plan on going in the city a lot. Feel free to email me at isabelladangelo at gmail dot com if you have any questions about the area.

I think that’s probably the best option, to leave the car out of the equation all together. There are plenty of hotels within spitting distance of the museum so I shouldn’t have any trouble finding something near by. Thanks for the suggestion!

I’ll second Isabella on the rental car, if you will be in the city proper, a rental car will be a hassle. Take a Super Shuttle from the airport to your hotel, and walk, or use the trains, buses and cabs to get around downtown (if that’s where you’ll be). If you’re only out in the ‘burbs, then you’ll probably need a car.

Yeah, I think I’m going to not deal with a car. Originally, it was either find a hotel further away and drive in, or pay more and find a hotel nearby and not rent a car. I think I’ll opt for the second option. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
